LM Barron

Born in Canada 1945, Larry grew up with two brothers and a sister in an outer suburb of Montreal.  Schooled locally, Larry graduated from McGill University (Montreal) in geology and chemistry with BSc Honours (1967) and PhD (1970).  He won university awards for wrestling and rugby union.

In Sydney, on the first leg of a 1970 trip around the world, Larry met and married Jane Watts, and decided to settle.  Three children and three grandchildren later, Larry and Jane are still in Sydney.  Larry recently retired (2005) after 35 years with the Geological Survey of New South Wales.  He is currently a Research Associate at the Australian Museum.
